Comprehensive Teacher Training

The Pilates Apparatus Teacher Training Program is offered in association with the Physical Mind Institute. This is the longest standing Pilates training curriculum and the one most responsible for educating the public to the value of this work, organizing it and creating a standard for The Method with the intent of maintaining its integrity.

In this training you will learn both, the “gold standard’ of the Pilates Classical exercises, their order and theory, contemporary Pilates adaptations and variations along with the Pilates In Practice Curriculum. The Pilates in Practice Curriculum is derived from, bio-mechanics, functional movement, functional neurology and somatics. These two approaches will set you up to work with any type of client and meet their needs with ease.

The curriculums, from the Basic Fundamentals to the advanced work on the Pilates apparatus supplies a potential teacher with all the knowledge they need to get started teaching. The Pilates in Practice Curriculum will help you understand movement-its origination, center and connectivity and execution so that you can help anyone get the most out of the exercises.

The path to become a Comprehensive teacher begins with the Mat training followed by the Apparatus training. Post training, a student can and should begin teaching. Only after the hours of self practice, teaching and observation are completed, does a student test for certification. There is no time limit for which a student needs to test for their certification, a student just needs to be ready and everyone moves at their own pace. To become an expert, you need to study, question, investigate and always be curious about how the body and the brain process and perceive movement for any given person. You will need to be willing to analyze your own approach, consider new science and always be learning and practicing your craft. Your certification is just the beginning.

LET’S GET STARTED!

The Comprehensive Program is a total of 452 hours. 72 of those hours are in-studio (unless doing a hybrid program during Covid-19). The other hours of self practice, teaching and observation are completed independently. These modules can be taken at different times but must be completed in order as one Module builds on the previous. Trainings are offered in a 2-4 week time block along with a yearly schedule. For more information on upcoming dates, please contact us.

You can purchase modules separately or scroll to the bottom to purchase the complete set.
